Steve Newland, Senior Minister

Steve began serving at Legacy since January 2012. He has 17+ years of ministry experience. Prior to Legacy, Steve had served for 7 years as Outreach & Missions Minister in Greencastle, IN. In 2010, they became a family of 4 as God added Eddie (now 13) and Brianna (now 12) to their family through local adoption--and the providence of God. Lacy is an elementary teacher, a singer and a wonderful mother. Eddie is an avid tree climber and Wii enthusiast, and Brianna loves Ever After High, singing and learning sign language. Outside of Legacy, Steve currently serves on the boards of Central Florida Speech and Hearing Center, the Alexander Christian Foundation of Florida, and appreciates all the local amenities and fun that Lakeland has to offer.

Steve is currently working toward his Doctor of Ministry degree through Southeastern University. He earned a Master of Arts in Global Leadership through Fuller Theological Seminary. His undergraduate degrees are from Ozark Christian College in Joplin (Bachelor of Theology in Missions, and a Bachelor of Biblical Literature). Steve and Lacy also attended Milligan College for a couple years before transferring to OCC. Steve grew up in St. Louis, MO and Lacy in Sullivan, IN.

Steve's ministry philosophy has been shaped by his many experiences with short-term mission trips. He has seen God at work in the US, Chile, Mexico, Venezuela, Honduras, El Salvador, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, Oman, the UAE, and Thailand. He is always inspired by how God clearly longs for a relationship with those who don't yet know Him, and He pursues them through a wide variety of methods and missionaries. Steve understands that the mission field begins right where he is and extends to the ends of the earth.

David Moscrip, Associate/Worship Minister

David Moscrip became a part of the Legacy family as the Worship/Associate Minister in August 2012.

He began taking music lessons at the age of 3 and has been leading worship since the age of thirteen. His passion for seeing people engaged in worship through their unique expressions motivates him as a worship leader. As a musician, he has received songwriting recognition, had a few songs on the radio, and travelled extensively performing concerts.

His hometown is Indianapolis, Indiana, where he was very involved in the political arena. His political involvement eventually gave him a platform to speak on another issue about which he is passionate: child trafficking. In 2011 he was invited to meet with government leaders in Nigeria to discuss the topic.

David has been married to Amy for 13 years, they have three children (Alyson, Samuel, & William).

Greg Moyers, Student Minister

Greg Moyers joined our staff in 2016 as student minister. Greg and Abigail were married in 2008, and have three beautiful children: Asher, Abram and Eden Rei. In 2012, Greg graduated from Johnson University in Knoxville, TN. Greg has been in student ministry for four years prior to coming to Legacy. He minister in Concord, NC for three years, and for one year in St. Augustine, FL prior to that. He has also been involved in ministries in Tennessee and Michigan.

Greg has come to Legacy with a heart for students and a working knowledge of how to effectively lead a growing and dynamic student ministry. Abigail shares his heart for ministry and is actively involved with students and others in the congregation, as well. His love of God and His Word is evident in his life and ministry.

Brent Newland, Children’s Minister

Brent Newland joined the Legacy staff in June of 2012 as the Children's Minister. He comes with 14 years of ministry experience at churches in Tennessee, Illinois and Indiana, and at a children's home in Ohio. The previous 7 years he served as the Children's Minister in Greencastle, IN. He is passionate about connecting kids to Christ and helping them develop in their faith. He finds creative ways to do this. He has turned the Children's Center there into a television studio, an African village, Mexico, a south Asian market and more. Brent's creativity with multimedia has allowed kids to star in short films and some had even debuted at the local movie theater. We are excited that he has brought his passion and creativity to Legacy.

Brent and Tina have been married for 16 years and they have two children, Lucas (14) and Savanna (12), who are also a fun part of the Children's Ministry. Brent graduated from Milligan College in 1998 with a degree in communications and youth ministry.
